The nature of man

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ

I attended a lecture over the weekend, the topic of the lecture is irrelevant, and the speaker touched on the nature of man and how to deal with it. It was very interesting because it’s something that people today deny, that we have advanced eons beyond people before us and certain safeguards that were once believed in, we no longer need.

The discussion had come to the weakness of man, and man’s desires (this was not the topic of the lecture). The speaker gave up the podium to another individual who really began to go into the details about the nature of males. Talking about things like how people become addicted to pr0n (misspelled intentionally), beating off, etc. and how these habits have negative consequences on the self. Most of the attendees were youth aged 13-18 (I was helping moderate the lecture) and were raising issues about what society projects on them today, namely from health classes that beating off helps relieve the associated stress. He went back to say that should only be acceptable if one feels himself slipping and is at the brink of committing adultery. He gave what seemed to be obtuse tips (wearing layers when sleeping, showering with shorts on, putting PC/TV in a public place, etc.) to the audience, but they seemed to make sense. To battle the lowest form of human nature you use very mundane and simple resolutions, putting yourself in the spotlight and not giving yourself excuses.
