Provocation and Response

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ

The only reason I have a blog is to act as a repository for my own thoughts. I would write them down, but then I have to retrieve them and translate my chicken scratch to English (which isn’t always easy). That and then I would have to take care of paper, something I’m also not very good at. The post below this is in regards to being overly critical of others which leads to being unable – which fetched this comment from Mr. Edy Betz:

Which in of itself is hilarious since the whole basis for my post is that very sentiment. The liberal idea of “everything is awesome, you’re awesome, I’m awesome, etc.” is wrong and I wasn’t trying to advocate that either. The idea of having an “outsider” inform you of your deficiencies is nothing new, it’s how most things are improved in any setting (casual, personal or professional). Benjamin Franklin kept a journal to help him with this (cover seen below)

Although keeping a journal can be very helpful, you need third-party observation to be aware of the subconscious. We all have tendencies and habits that come out in action, either verbal or physical, that we are not always aware of.  Sometimes it takes a someone to simply tell you “hey, stop scratching yourself in public” to actually be aware of what you’re doing.

In any case I’m happy for two reasons:

  1. Someone found my blog and actually read the post
  2. That person was too silly to realize they were the very example to support my point
